- Bin – Bin pressure relief / bursting discs
- Comprehensive selection of ASME, CE and 3-A rupture/ bursting discs – designed for CIP/SIP applications
- The bins may be built into a block and fitted with variable speed screw dischargers feeding a blending/weighing system.
Screw Conveyors
Screw conveyors and feeders are essential for dealing with powdered or granular materials. They are commonly used for general movement and distribution of bulk materials, bulk intake, silo discharge and hopper discharge applications.
Rowlands Woodhouse will design the conveyor to suit your required application and can design mixing conveyors if required.
Flighting selections depend on application
- R/H or L/H standard flighting
- Crescent
- Ribbon
- Paddle
Types of Applications
- Abrasive materials
- Damp, wet materials
- Fluidised materials
- Greasy, oily products
- Hot, cold or wet environments
Bin Dischargers
Bin dischargers are one of various methods of discharging a silo or bin. They are commonly used for the discharge of free flowing bulk materials for silo discharge and hopper discharge applications.
Dischargers may be used for many different materials, from grains, feeds and foods to oilseeds, biomass, waste and minerals.
The dischargers may be designed with a single screw flight shaft of multiple shafts and can be linked to an inverter to give a variable speed discharge.
- Discharger sizes – as screw conveyors
- Variable pitch or tapered flighting used for discharging silos, blending systems and storage bins
- Flared inlet to aid the product flow into the discharger
- Construction – mild steel or stainless steel
- Finish – painted or galvanized
Belt and Bucket Elevators
Bucket elevators are a simple but effective method of elevating free flowing and semi-free flowing bulk materials with poor flow characteristics. Their inherent simplicity makes them a popular choice for bulk material handling and processing applications.
Bucket elevators operate across the world in a wide variety of markets, from grains, feeds and foods to oilseeds, biomass, waste and minerals.
- Capacities up to 250 tph (depending on material type)
- Heavy duty hardened steel wear plates located in high wear locations
- Backstop fitted to head drum to enable the elevator to be stopped when loaded
- Heavy duty chain or direct drive using a geared motor is available
- Bottom drums are adjustable
- Bucket pitches are set to give the required capacity or suit the materials being handled
- Explosion relief panels fitted to the elevator legs. These could be a membrane or hinged flap. Both types would be fitted with micro switches.
- Large access plates are fitted for ease of inspection and maintenance
- Construction – mild steel or stainless steel
- Finish – painted or galvanized
Structural Steelwork
Rowlands Woodhouse designs, manufactures and erects bespoke buildings from structural steelwork inclusive of frames, access platforms, machinery floors, bin entablatures steelwork, access stairs, ladders, hand railing, cladding and access doors.
All designs are produced in-house using special steelwork programmes and CAD/CAM systems. For complex structures, the designs are checked and approved by our Chartered Engineers. The buildings and extensions have normally plasticized steel / opaque profiled cladding that may be insulted.
The manufacture of the steelwork is aligned with the current legislation and our engineers are trained in quality and environmental procedures.
Turnkey Mills
We have the capacity to produce and design a complete factory or mill in house. Working alongside the customer to produce the desired plant or systems required.
Rowlands Woodhouse have examples of new build and remodels of existing plants that have spanned over the last twenty five years. So you can rely on the service and quality that we are able to offer.
Blending Systems
Blending systems are normally weighers or hoppers that are fed with multiple materials, normally by conveyors from storage silos or bins. Additives may also be added if required to give a formulated batch.
The type of system for blending materials will vary depending on the project requirements.
Weighers
There are two types of load cell weigh hoppers – a single hopper or a double dump hopper.
Single weigh hopper – Fitted with either a variable pitch screw or a chain and flight conveyor. The load cells are located onto the hopper body and steelwork supporting frame, a defined amount of material may be fed into the hopper, then discharged as a batch via the discharger when required, in to the system.
Double dump weigh hopper – Comprises of two hoppers, one above the other. The top hopper accepts the material and registers its weight and is fitted with a ‘bomb door’ to allow the material to fall into the under hopper. Once the material has left the top hopper the bomb doors close and the material may be fed in to the top hopper, while the original batch of material in the bottom hopper is being discharged in to the system.
Weighing and Control
The weighing system uses load cells that are linked via transducers and amplifier to the PLC in the control panel. This allows the PLC to control several different pre-determined weights accurately, to form the batch required for the up-line processing system.
The size of the hoppers are dependent on the batch size and the physical site space available.
Levelling screws may be used at the top of the top hopper. This enables the materials with a poor angle of repose to be spread evenly across the hopper.
PLC Control Panels.
Waste Material Processing
Rowlands Woodhouse designs and supplies purpose built systems to either allow the return of the waste product back in a process line, or to separate and clean the waste materials for resale or as a fuel.
Rowlands Woodhouse designs, supplies and installs systems for:
- Turnkey process requirements
- Material separation – magnetic, non-magnetic, air
- Sizing materials – vibratory screens
- Size reduction – grinding, pulverizing, shredding
- Drying – drum drying
- Raw and finished product storage
Pelleting Plants
Rowlands Woodhouse are able to retrofit or replace pelleting system or items within existing mills or production facilities.
Normally for biomass pellets, the systems are for a new build on a single or two levels, using a floor structure or supporting steelwork with access areas.
Pelleting systems may be split into two areas:-
- Mill production-waste – animal feed
- Biomass pellets
Certain types of biomass are very abrasive and aggressive. Rowlands Woodhouse takes this into consideration when designing a system, using the appropriate equipment and the materials they are manufactured from.
Drum Dryers
Drum dryers are normally used within process systems and depending on the materials, can be manufactured from carbon steels or a combination of carbon and stainless steel. The drying medium is dry steam and uses a recirculation system that efficiently and cost effectively removes moisture. The dryers may be used in most industries, including biomass. For materials that are very high in moisture content, a belt or screw press may be used prior to the drum dryer to help make the running more cost effective.
